Let $f(z)$ be a function $\not=0$ in an interval containing $z=0$. Let $g(z)$ be another function also defined in this interval such that $g(z)/f(z)\to 0$ as $z\to 0$. Then $g(z)$ is said to be ${\mathcal O}(f(z))$.
