Historical Note

Tennis at MSU began during the intercollegiate field days of the1880’s. In 1900, the first permanent courts were constructed on campus north of Morrill Hall. MSU won it’s only M.I.A.A. title in 1908 and during the 1920’s and 1930’s, participated in the State Intercollegiate and State Invitational tournaments. In 1951, The MSU Tennis team won the Big Ten Championship, becoming the first MSU sport to win a Big Ten championship.

The Intercollegiate Athletics Tennis Collection consists of a program from the 80th Annual NCAA Tennis Championships held at Michigan State University June 15-20, 1963.
