Biographical Note

I. Forest Huddleson was born in Murphysville, Kentucky on October 17, 1893. Huddleson earned his B.S. (1915) from Oklahoma A, & M. College (now Oklahoma State University), his M.S. (1916), D.V.M. (1925) and Ph.D. (1937) from Michigan State College (now Michigan State University). He was a professor of microbiology and public health at Michigan State University for 49 years. His research on brucellosis is generally credited as the basis for the procedures which have helped to bring the disease under control in Michigan and other states. He died on May 26, 1964.

Scope and Contents note

The collection contains the volume "Brucella Infections in Animals and Man" by Irvin Forest Huddleson (1934). Also included are the journal articles, “The Differentiation of the Species of the Genus Brucella” (1928) by Huddleson, and “A Study of an Epidemic of Brucellosis Due to Brucella Melitensis” (1940) by Huddleson and Myrtle Munger.
