Biographical Note
Harold W. Byram received his B.S. and M.S. from Iowa State College and his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1933. In 1936, Byram accepted an appointment as an associate professor of education at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) Byram moved to the MSC Vocational Education Program in 1949. Nine years later he received yet another position change when he was appointed to the Teacher Education program. The 1960s signaled Byram's involvement in the Secondary Education Curriculum. Byram retired in 1971 and he moved to Sun City, Arizona. Prior to his retirement, Michigan State University awarded Byram the position of Professor Emeritus of Education. Byram was also involved in agricultural education and international projects in Guatemala and Thailand during his career at Michigan State University.
Scope and Contents note
These papers consist of two journals and a leaflet written by Byram that deal with Michigan State University International Projects. One of the journals and the leaflet are on a project in Guatemala and the other journal is on a project in Thailand. The rest of the papers are materials dealing with the field of education. These materials include an article written by Byram for the Michigan Farmer (never published) entitled "Historical Sketch of Agricultural Education in the Public Schools of Michigan." Three booklets on agricultural education in Michigan and a list of publications by Byram are also included.
