Biographical Note
Born July 11, 1907 in Toledo, Ohio, John Wetzel Ruswinckel received his A.B. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Michigan in 1930 and 1931. Ruswinckel worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Detroit from 1931 to 1937. He was an instructor of public accounting at Loyola University of the South (1937-1939). Ruswinckel joined the faculty in the Department of Accounting at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) in 1939. He retired in 1972.
Ruswinckel authored four editions and a Portuguese translation of Cost Accounting and The Professional CPA Examination: Accounting Problems.
John Wetzel Ruswinckel died June 13, 1993.
Scope and Contents note
The John W. Ruswinckel papers contain materials relating to closed circuit television classes at Michigan State University from 1960-1970. Materials include reports about students attitudes of television classes, brochures, summaries of surveys, and reports about a closed circuit accounting class. The TV Committee folder contains cost study information, policy information, and a blank faculty agreement about ownership of curriculum created for television courses. The collection also contains a copy of Michigan Bell magazine with an article about MSU closed circuit television courses, a copy of a proclamation for Ruswinckel, and accounting publications that contain material about closed circuit television classes written by Ruswinckel.
