Biographical Note

Norman I. Kagan, was born on May 3, 1931 in Queens, New York. He received a BS in Chemistry and a Masters and Ph.D., in Psychology from New York University in New York City. Kagan came to Michigan State University in 1961. He created the method of Interpersonal Process Recall. He retired from Michigan State University in 1984 and became Chair at the College of Education, Counseling Psychology program at the University of Houston. He passed away on on May 20, 1994 in Houston, Texas.

Scope and Contents note

The Norman Kagan collection contains publications, vhs tapes, umatic tapes and 16mm films relating to Kagan's work in "Interpersonal Process Recall." The publications explain the method and how to use it, as well as contain publications on the Kagan Affective Sensitivity Scale. The vhs, umatic tapes and 16mm films relate to the Interpersonal Process Recall and Kagan Affective Sensitivity Scale and contain the various scenarios and methods described in the publications.
