Biographical Note
William B. Hixson was a faculty member in the Michigan State University History department.
Scope and Contents note
The collection consists of postcards from the turn of the twentieth century. These postcards feature photographs of Native Americans, mainly of individuals in ceremonial dress. The postcards are arranged by tribe, when known. Postcards with no known tribal affiliation are separated by the category of the picture or in some cases by the title of the postcard when there are no other similar images. There is also a letter to Hixson from George Cornell of the Michigan State University Native American Institute discussing the postcards.
