Biographical Note

Robert L. Wright was born on May 23, 1920 in Connersville, Indiana. He graduated from Defiance College in 1943 with a Bachelor's degree in English. His first position at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) came in 1948 as an assistant professor in Written and Spoken English. Later, he became the director of the Writing Clinic at MSC and an assistant professor in Communication Skills. In 1957 he became an associate professor of American Thought and Language in 1957, and later a full-time professor in the department. In 1962, he became a professor in Comparative Literature as well. He stayed at the university as a professor until 1986.

Scope and Contents note

This collection contains papers relating to courses taught by Robert L. Wright at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University from 1948 to 1963. In particular, there are several annual reports relating to writing and other communication skills. There is also an analysis of a questionnaire given to undergraduate students regarding their reactions to Basic College courses.
