Biographical Note

Frederick C. Bradford was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on February 4, 1887. He received his B.S. from Harvard University in 1908 and his M.S. from the University of Maine in 1911. He worked at Oregon Agricultural College, as a high school teacher in New Hampshire, at the United States Department of Agriculture, and as an assistant professor at the University of Missouri before coming to Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) as an Associate Professor of Horticulture in 1922. He was married to Pearl Whitehouse and they had three children. He died in Glendale, Maryland on June 27, 1950.

Scope and Contents note

The collection contains notes dated June, July and August 1929 and appear to be from a course in the history of horticulture. Frederick C. Bradford taught a graduate course titled "History and Literature of Horticulture" that was offered in the winter and summer of that academic year.
