Biographical Note
Mary Mouat Abbot, born on the Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) campus in 1863, was the daughter of M.A.C. President T. C. Abbot and served as librarian at M.A.C. from 1888-1889. She married Cleaves M. Moore of Cincinnati, Ohio, and after her father’s death in 1891, she and her mother and family moved to San Gabriel, California. There she worked as a librarian and secretary at a ladies’ library club. She died in 1903 from the effects of anesthetics administered for a slight surgical operation.
