Biographical Note
Paul Cross Morrison received his B.S. in 1928 and his M.S. in 1933 both from Ohio State University. He received his Ph.D. in 1941 from Clark University (Worchester, Mass.). Paul was an instructor of geography from 1930 to 1931 at OSU. In 1931 he came to Michigan State College (now Michigan State University as an instructor of geography and became a full professor in 1950.
Morrison was born August 26, 1906, retired in 1966, and passed away on May 4, 1969.
Scope and Content
The collection contains Paul C. Morrison's research on the the origins of place names in Michigan.The bulk of the collection consists of newspaper clippings that Morrison collected. Also contained are student papers, as well as Morrison’s own research. In addition to Michigan names, origins for California, Nebraska, Ohio, and other U.S. States' names are in the collection.
