Historical Note
The Extern Program of the MSU Department of Educational Administration began during the 1956-1957 academic year, and ran until 1991-1992. The purpose of the program, which was open to practicing beginning school administrators, was "to bridge the gap between educational theory and practice" ("Talking Shop at Weekend Seminars, 1958). Participants were encouraged to discuss the problems they encounter in their jobs in these informal weekend seminars.
Scope and Contents note
This collection consists of materials relating to the history of the Extern Program in the Department of Educational Administration, beginning in the 1956-1957 academic year and ending after the 1991-1992 academic year. The history includes correspondence, program plans, rosters, memos, and policies.
