Historical Note

Beginning as the Orphic Literary Society in February 1917, the society had barely formed when World War I broke out and forced it to discontinue activities. In September 1919, the society was recognized and continued an average membership of 30 to 35. In 1925, its petition for admission to Pi Kappa Phi was granted as the Alpha Theta Chapter. It was the fifth national fraternity admitted to the campus.
