Biographical Note
Elizabeth Jean Sawer was born on April 22, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Harold and Margaret Sawer.
She graduated from Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) in 1949 from the School of Business and Public Service with her bachelor of science degree in Physical Education, Health and Recreation for Women. During her time at MSC, Elizabeth participated in Gamma Phi Beta, the Wolverine yearbook, the Spartan, Ski Club, PEM Club, W.A.A., Dionysians, Mardi Gras Committee, Senior Ball Committee, and was North Hall President and Secretary.
After leaving MSC, Elizabeth married George Wittet on March 21, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. They had two children together, a son and daughter. Elizabeth died in June 1986 in Canadaigua, New York and is buried in Troy, Michigan at the White Chapel Cemetery.
Scope and Contents note
The collection contains the photo album of Elizabeth Jean Sawer Wittet from her time at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) as well as a few photographs that are not MSC-related. Includes portraits of friends, images of students at events and parties, a few images of campus, a campaign ad for Senior Vice-President, a MSC baseball player, an Olympic boxer, and a Safety Education certificate for a course of instruction at the Driver Education Institute held at MSC from 1950.
