Biography

Floyd M. Barden attended M.A.C. from 1904 to 1908. Following graduation, he returned to the family farm in South Haven, Michigan where he successfully raised peaches until joining the ministry in the late 1930s. He also worked as a land appraiser in Berrien County during the mid 1930s.

Scope and Contents note

The Floyd M. Barden papers consist of an oral history interview conducted by Frank Dennis in 1973. Barden discusses fruit farming in South Haven (1850-1900), his experiences while a student at M.A.C. (1904-1908), and his later interaction with the College, particularly his work with the Cooperative Extension Service (ca. 1910-1930). The collection includes and audio cassette and transcription of the interview.
