Biographical Note

Lutie Robinson Gunson (1882-1956) from Ellsworth, Michigan graduated from Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) in 1912 with a degree in Home Economics. She was also a member of the Y.W.C.A. cabinet. She was the housekeeper for the Gunson family. After the death of his first wife, she married Thomas Gunson. The Gunson family lived adjacent to the campus greenhouse. Thomas was a horticulturist and teacher at M.A.C. and worked at both Beal's garden and the greenhouse. Both Lutie and Thomas are buried in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Scope and Content

The Lutie Robinson Gunson collection consists of a watercolor painting of the greenhouse on the Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) campus. The greenhouse was located near Beal's garden. The watercolor was painted by Lutie Robinson Gunson, circa 1913.
