Biographical Note

Chester Clark graduated from high school in Howell, Michigan in 1935 and entered MAC on a scholarship and majored in agriculture. He earned the scholarship by being the 4-H Garden Champion in Michigan in 1935. He attended MSU from 1936-1938 and 1939-1940 but did not graduate. His freshman year, Clark corresponded with a pen pal, Joseph Price, a coal miner in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania.

Scope and Contents note

The Chester Clark papers consist of htree of Clark's letters to Joseph Price. In the letters Clark describes his graduation from high school, the farm he lived on, his garden and fair prizes, and hist first week as a freshman at Michigan Agricultural College. Also included is a newspaper clipping from "The Boys World" advertising Clark's interest in a pen pal, and a photograph of Chester Clark taken May 1, 1936.
