Biographical/Historical
Mary Karshner received her degree in 1972 from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
Scope and Contents note
The Mary Krashner collection consists of syllabi, class notes, exams, and essays/papers from her time as a student at Michigan State University. The class materials pertain to James Madison College, History, Economics, Sociology, American Thought and Language, and Russian Literature. Also included is an undated issue of Snork magazine, an invitation to become a freshman in the Honors College, and a James Madison College handbook.

Papers for James Madison College 205, 290, and 444 1969-1971 Scope and ContentThe Mary Karshner papers contain an assortment of materials from Karshner's various classes in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The collection holds papers from Russian, Sociology, Economics, History, and James Madison College classes. Many of the folders have complete course notes for the duration of the semester, as well as some Bluebook essay exams and full syllabi. Karshner's assigned papers for some classes can also be found in a number of folders. A handbook for the James Madison College is also included, as well as Karshner's invitation to join the Honors College before her Freshman year began. A copy of the James Madison College student publication "Snork?" is enclosed, which covers various topics around campus as well as individual written pieces. Biographical/HistoricalAccording to her papers, Mary Karshner attended Michigan State University from 1968 until 1972. She was a member of the James Madison College and possibly the Honors College. After college she spent five years doing archaeological digs in Iran, Spain, England, and Italy, and currently she is director of the Royal Oak Public Library and runs the blog on their website. |
