Biography
Helen Josephine Klute was born October 4, 1905 in Three Oaks, Michigan to William Carl and Edna Spaulding Klute. She was the valedictorian of the Three Oaks High School graduating class of 1923. She attended Michigan Agricultural College 1923 - 1927 in the Home Economics program and living in the Collingwood House dormitory. She retired October 4, 1950 on her 65th birthday from Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan having served a number of years as chief dietician. Following her retirement, she sold her home in Kalamazoo and moved to and purchased as home in Lemon Grove, California with her sister, Ada Elizabeth Klute Felske. She died September 22, 1997 in San Diego.
Donald Harvey Klute was born February 11, 1907 in Three Oaks, Michigan to William Carl and Edna Spaulding Klute. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1924. He attended Michigan Agricultural College 1924 - 1927 in the Agricultural course. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and during his adult life lived in Connecticut and Florida. He was a resident of West Palm Beach for seventeen years before his death on May 26, 1987.
Scope and Contents note
Collection consists of records Helen Klute's time at M.A.C. Records include class registration slips, receipts for college expenses, a clipping showing the family business, and two books. The books are Linen & How to Set the Table for Every Occasion by Sara Swain Adams and O n the Campus at M.A.C.. The latter contains photographs of the campus and activities.
