Biographical Note
Charles E. Blakeslee was from St. Johns, Michigan and graduated from MSU in 1933 in agriculture. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Zeta, Block and Bridle, and Agriculture Council. He was also editor of the Michigan Agriculturist and was on the Judging Team. In 1933, he was secretary and treasurer of Pi Delta Epsilon.
Pi Delta Epsilon, the national honorary journalism fraternity, was founded in 1909 at Syracuse University to honor men who had held a position of at least assistant editor on any campus publication. Pi Delta Epsilon was dedicated to service and helped establish Schools of Journalism and revive struggling university publications. A chapter of Pi Delta Epsilon was established at Michigan State University in 1924.
Scope and Contents note
This collection consists of bills, The Grand Constitution of Pi Delta Epsilon, scripts for the 1925 fraternity initiation ritual, minutes of a meeting, and the charter record book of the Michigan State University chapter. The charter record book includes a history of Pi Delta Epsilon, the by-laws of the fraternity, and register, with records of members between the years 1924 and 1930. The charter was in the “Charter of Pi Delta Epsilon” binder but was removed for preservation reasons.
