Biography

Thelma Haite was born on August 11, 1899 in Springport, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1922. From 1922 to 1923 she taught Home Economics at a junior high school in Jackson, Michigan. She worked as a laboratory technologist from June 1924 until her marriage on September 20, 1924 to Leonard Holbrook Sanford. At the time of her death Thelma was the oldest living president of the MAC Alumnae League of Greater Lansing, which funded the construction of the Union Building and furnished the ladies parlor in 1929. She died on January 1, 1994.

Scope and Contents note

The Thelma Haite Sanford papers contains a newsletter and event calender from the Spartan Alumnae of Greater Lansing, sheet music for "Hail, MAC" by Charles R. Haigh, 1894. Also included is sheet music from "Campus Days" by H.T. DeHart performed at the "MAC Union Musical Revue," 1921. The songs from "Campus Days" includes "Ball Room Chorus," The Butterfly and the Rose," and "I Idolize You."
