Scope and Contents note
The collection contains a copy of a Genealogy of the Saganing Indians of Arenac County and the Saginaw Valley in Michigan (1760 - circa 1880), written by Bernard Bourase and his wife Charlotte, both Indians, for a settler, Harvey Chamberlin. It contains some interesting comments on the treaty of 1819, which deprived the Indians of their land in and around the Saginaw Valley.
Included also is an index of Ojibwa words and their English translations written by the donor.
