Scope and Contents note

This collection consists of a mimeographed copy of a history of Galien, Berrien County, Michigan, compiled by Frank D. Noggle. The history describes early industries, education, railroading, land use and development in the period 1828-1879. It also includes biographical sketches of some early settlers. In addition, Noggle discusses the local Pottawatomie Indian tribe, who reluctantly gave up their land rights in 1833 and were finally expelled from the area in 1838.
