Biographical Note

Oliver H. Wilcox (born circa 1874) was the son of Dr. Hiram B. Wilcox, the first doctor in Three Oaks, Michigan. "Ollie" became a schoolteacher in 1891 at the age of seventeen.

Scope and Contents note

His diary describes his early experiences as a teacher, and discusses his personal and social life. A number of entries in the diary are in code form. The book also contains an essay on the history, geography, industry and natural resources of Berrien County, Michigan.
