Biographical Note

F. E. Williams (1861-1931)had a career in the railroad business. Beginning as a messenger boy for the Erie Railroad in 1876 at the age of fifteen, he moved up through the ranks as telegrapher (Erie R.R., West Shore R.R.), ticket agent (Pennsylvania R.R., Pullman Co.), chief clerk (Pullman Co. Grand Central Station), and Assistant District Supervisor (N.Y.C. Lines).

Scope and Contents note

This collections includes typed excerpts from the memoirs (1861-1931) of F. E. Williams, describing his career in the railroad business. His reminiscences include family history and brief descriptions of railroad travel and operation between 1861-1906.
