Scope and Contents note

This collection contains an article by L.P. Pettitt entitled "Short Story of the Passenger Pigeon" (1953) explaining the methods used in Michigan from 1870-1880 to capture large numbers of these birds. The birds were then shipped to cities in The Midwest. Pettitt also discusses different theories on the cause of the extinction of the passenger pigeon.
