Arthur G. Wilson was the son of George and also a farmer in Ingham County.
William W. Wilson, (born 1842) served in the 11th Michigan Infantry regiment and died at the Andersonville Prison in Georgia on June 17, 1864. William was probably a cousin to the family.
Scope and Contents note
The majority of this collection is made up of 58 small volumes, all within the boxes. Volume 1 is farm accounts, 1863-1868, kept by George W. Wilson of Delhi Township, Ingham County. Volumes 2-53 are diaries kept by George W. Wilson, 1868-1922, telling of social events and life on his Aurelius, Ingham County farm. At the back of each diary is an account of the year's expenditures. Volumes 54-55 are diaries kept by Arthur G. Wilson, son of George W. Wilson, also an Aurelius farmer, containing descriptions of daily events and farm accounts, 1925-1926. Volume 56 contains farm accounts and accounts from a number of public offices kept by George W. Wilson when he was apparently Aurelius Township Treasurer, 1871-1874. Volume 57 is a copy of Scribner's Lumber and Log Book of facts about lumber, copyright 1882.
There are also 7 folders of loose papers in this collection. The first folder contains insurance policies issued to George W. Wilson from the Agricultural Insurance Company of Watertown, New Jersey, 1875-1881, Folders 2 and 3 contain mortgages and deeds, all related to Ingham County, but apparently unrelated to the Wilson Family, 1863-1905. Many of these involve Jacob, Ann, and Maria Faurot(e) of Aurelius. The fourth and fifth folders contain various legal documents and accounts of Aurelius Township, several were recorded by George W. Wilson, Township Treasurer, 1876-1902. The last two folders contain miscellaneous pieces of paper. Of interest in folder 6 is a poem written by William Wilson while prisoner at Andersonville Prison, Georgia in 1864. Folder 7 contains a letter from the donor and a Wilson family genealogy.
