Updated 04/02/98. File Name: README.TXT ***** Instructions for a Complete Installation of the Multi!Wav NT Driver. If you only need to upgrade your NT driver, close this file and read the UPGRADE.TXT file. Print out this document before installing your Multi!Wav NT Driver. ***** If you already have a version of the Multi!Wav NT Driver installed ... A. Uninstall ANY previous version of the WAV Driver, Multi!Wav NT Utility, and DriverLinkNT. B. Search your hard drive and remove ALL mwdpro*.lbn files. C. Restart NT and begin the installation ***** Step1. Setting up your Hardware under NT. Currently, the software setup program is being updated. The easiest way to: 1) Use the same settings that you are using for Windows 95/3.1, or 2) Run DriverLink under Windows 95 or Windows 3.1 setup the hardware for a new card. For all cards, you will have to select a unique Card Address. Here are a few example settings For Card Address 3E0, set DIP Switch S1 to: Sections 1-5 OFF (Down)/ Sections 6-7 ON (Up) (DEFAULT) For Card Address 350, set DIP Switch S1 to: Sections 1,2,4,6 OFF (Down)/ Sections 3,5,7 ON (Up) For Card Address 210, set DIP Switch S1 to: Sections 1,6 OFF (Down)/ Sections 2-5,7 ON (Up) For Card Address 338, set DIP Switch S1 to: Sections 1,2,5-7 OFF (Down)/ Sections 3,4 ON (Up) To install a PRO24 Series card, you will need to know: Card Address: For a PRO18 and PRO card, you will need to know: Card Address Input Format selection Output Format selection In addition, for a PRO card, you must know the type of Xilinx chip that your card uses. Look closely at your Multi!Wav PRO Card. Find the large, square Xilinx chip in the center of the card. There are three types of Xilinx chips that were used for PRO cards: XC4003A XC4004A XC4003E Please circle the Xilinx chip that your PRO card uses. (This only applies to PRO cards) ***** Step 2. Installing the Multi!Wav NT WAV Driver... You must be an administrator to install the NT driver. Your NT driver must already be un-installed. Installing the NT Driver is done in the typical NT fashion of adding an audio device to the Multimedia Devices section of the WindowsNT Control Panel. Run the Windows Control Panel. Double click on the Multimedia icon. Choose the Devices tab. Click on Add. Find the OEMSETUP.INF file in the "AdBNTTemp" directory. A. Select the Card to Install: (If you have a PRO card, select the appropriate version) B. Select a Card Address (Use the Card Address that you wrote down) C. (Optional) Select a Multi!Wav OS. (Note this applies to PRO18 & PRO24 cards only) D. Enable DMA channels (Use the values that you wrote down) Click Install, then Close. Restart NT. FYI: There are also other settings that can be configured. The Multi!Wav NT Driver Configuration options are as follows: INSTALL NEW MULTI!WAV CARD: To select this feature, click on the appropriate option button and then click OK. Use this feature to Add a new Multi!Wav card to your system. CHANGE INSTALLED CARD SETTINGS: To select this feature, click on the appropriate option button and then click OK. Use this feature to CHANGE the settings to an installed Multi!Wav card. If your card is Verified Operational by the Driver, it will not allow you to change the Card Address. You can still change DMA channels, and the Multi!Wav OS. UNINSTALL A MULTI!WAV CARD: To select this feature, click on the appropriate option button and then click OK. Select a Card to installed. The Multi!Wav Card Type will give more detail about the card you want to uninstall. ***** Step3. Install Multi!Wav NT Utility. Run the Multi!WavNTUtility setup program and install the Multi!Wav NT Utility. Multi!Wav NT Utility can ONLY be used AFTER the driver has been successfully installed. This Utility will allow you to set software features of your Multi!Wav card, such as Monitor Input Source, Sync Playback to External Clock, Use Optical Input, etc ... The NT Utility is also in the process of being upgraded and integrated into DriverLinkNT. ***** Step 4. Install BitWav32. BitWav32 is a WAV file record/playback utility with Multi!Wav diagnostics. With BitWav32, you can also run multiple instances of the program. Currently, there is no setup routine for BitWav32. Either copy it to your desktop, or put it in a directory and create a shortcut pointing to the program. In order to use BitWav32, the Multi!Wav Driver be installed. ********** End of Document
