Macduff, John Ross (1818 - 1895) The Great Journey (1854)

Born in 1818 in Bonhard, Perthshire, he was educated at the High School and University of Edinburgh. He was ordained as Doctor of Divinity in 1843, and after serving in Forfarshire and Perthshire, he became pastor of the new church at Sandyford Glasgow from 1855 - 1870. He retired to Chiselhurst, Kent, Eng. and devoted his time to literary work. His books were circulated widely in Scotland and include: The Wells of Baca; or, Solaces of the Christian Mourner, Lon. 1847, The Exilesof Lucerna; or Suffering of the Waldenses, 1851; Morning and Night Watches, 1852, Altar-Stones, 1853, The Mind and Words of Jesus, 1855, and the American edition of The Great Journey: An Allegory, 1854.
