There are a fairly large number of titles in this collection without a known author. This may be due in some cases be due to individual authors being Sunday school teachers, not professional writers. For the most part it is related to the policies of Sunday school Unions and other tract societies that chose to publish in anonymous formats, placing on the title page a statement that a work was "revised by the committee of publication." These committees would also frequently omit the year of publication on frequently reprinted titles.
